The King Bursary
This is an annual bursary which is kindly awarded by a private donor, Professor Mary King, to eligible students pursuing level 7/8 courses in the Health Sciences area. Professor King's mother Julia was a former teacher in Trinity Comprehensive School. She is keen to support Leaving Certificate students in their move from second to third level education and to provide financial assistance towards the costs of going to college. . It will help pay for college related expenses such as books, course materials and transport. Applications are weighted on academic achievement, motivation and aspirations.
BITE continues to offer an information and support service to third level students. BITE has established a good relationship with students from second level interventions. We encourage students to maintain this support link in making the transition from second to third level education. BITE offers support around grant issues and offers to advocate on students behalf if necessary. We also ensure students are aware of and linked in with the support services in their new college. We contact students at regular intervals during the academic year to discuss progress and how they are settling into college life. We assist them source additional tuition if necessary. We also welcome queries from past students who are considering returning to education.
